The musical ability of the Sale City Band had created a great impression on the public of the district. The Mayor (Cr. C.E. Cartledge) said this at the annual meeting of the band on Monday night. The players were a credit to the band and because of this a credit to the district.

The meeting was held at the Band room and theie was a good attendance. The Mayor (Cr.C. E. Cartledge) was in the chair and he expressed appreciation of the services of the band to the people during the past 12 months. He felt that the progress the band had made over the year was an indication of the enthusiasm of the players. It was also pleasing to see that younger members were taking a real interest. He hoped that the band would continue to prosper and that full support would be available from the people.

The balance sheet disclosed that the turnover for the year was £494. Of this amount the council grant was £104 with £44/6/- from performances at the Sale football matches and £96/16/2 from the finals at Morwell. The ladies made a donation of £76/13/2, a fine effort for the year, and other donations totalled £30/11/3. The ball raised £35/6/ -, with £4/15/5 in refunds of fares to Morwell.

A refund of bus hire of £20 was made from the Toora trip and the donations. There were £14 19/2. The bandmaster's salary was £150, the main item on the expenditure side. Repairs to equipment were £45 16/2 and the refund of loans £62 10/ -. The credit balance was £88/1/4 and this was considered satisfactory.

Treasurer Mr. G. Healy;
Secretary, Mr. L. Sutherland.
Committee : Messrs. Joyce, Lambourne, Ebrey, Monk, Carstairs, Lester, Schultz, Clark, Grant, Cr. W. Stephenson, Mesdames Joyce, Glover, Trimble, Johnson and Mathers.
Band representatives: Messrs. R. Greenaway, R. Boucher, F Glover, A. Glover, K. Garner and E. Woodlands.

Following the meeting, supper was served by the ladies.
