At the annual meeting of the Sale Town Band, held at the Mechanics' Institute on Thursday evening, there was a good attendance of bandsmen but a paucity of the general public. Cr. W. Stevens (vice-president) in the unavoidable absence of the Mayor, presided.
The report and balance sheet were submitted. The balance sheet, showed a credit balance of £5 1/11.
The President of the Ladies' Committee (Mrs. Henderson) reported that the committee had raised £28 1/5 towards a fund for providing uniforms for the bandsmen. The amount raised was a great surprise to the meeting, and a vote of thanks was accorded the Ladies' Committee for it's fine work.
During the year the band gave 17 performances for the benefit of the public and received eight engagements.

The chairman congratulated the band on its great improvement under the new bandmaster (Mr. Warren). The band was taking part in a band contest at Yarram, and he wished it success. Mr. Laming, supporting Mr. Stevens' remarks, said he was very pleased with the band's progress. It had made rapid strides of late.
It was stated that there were vacancies in the band for a number of juniors for whom instruments were available, and the bandmaster would be pleased to enrol new members.
