Sale City Band in High Demand

Gippsland Times 20 December 2002

SALE City Band ... at its busiest during the festive season.
MANY community groups go into recess for the Christmas and new year break but Sale City Band is just warming up for one of its busiest times of the year.
In November the band travelled to South Australia to participate in the Mount Gambier Brass Band Festival.
The festival included seven bands from three different states performing under competition conditions, following the morning's activities that included three different marches through the streets of Mount Gambier.
Sale City band got top marks for drill, time and pace in the competition march.
The following weekend the band repeated its competition repertoire at the Gippsland Grammar chapel as part of the Grammar's Sunday Soiree series of concerts.
Following the band's presentation night in early December to award the year's trophies, the Christmas carol season began.
The Sale City Band is participating in the Heyfield, Sale and Stratford carols this year, then following a short break for the new year will gear up for the Australia Day weekend events.
The band always welcomes new learners and players.
An information night will be held on Monday, February 10 in the band hall in Foster St, Sale from 7.30pm.
